It’s always been my dream to have my own in-home dog care one day where I could look after older dogs needing extra care. As there are no suitable options within Auckland, Pawsome Dog Care was born, providing a caring environment so that owners don’t have to worry about their precious dogs when they go away. Affordable pricing, two pick-up/ drop-off time slots, and a lovely in-home dog care experience.
Why Pawsome Is Needed
A Lack of In-home Dog Care Options in Auckland Catering Specifically to Older Dogs and Their Needs
Over the years our fur babies have aged gracefully and very much become senior dogs, or ‘geriatrics’ as some may say. As time has gone on, it’s become harder and harder to find somewhere for them to stay if we wanted to go away for a weekend or a holiday etc. We won’t just put them anywhere, or in normal ‘kennels’, because they are too old and too precious for that, and a lot of regular kennels are generally more for fit and healthy dogs – which ours are not. They are on a myriad of medication and have physical disabilities that make it almost impossible to leave them somewhere. I also worry too much! There are only two places we have them stay, both of which are outside of Auckland – and did I mention Gizmo gets car sick?! So it’s not always possible when it’s just for a weekend or a night to travel that distance. It was too hard to find suitable in-home dog care in Auckland and if you have struggled with this too, then Pawsome Dog Care is for you.

It’s always been my dream to have my own dog care place one day where I could look after older dogs needing the extra care that our older dogs need and deserve. It’s a real passion. All dogs are precious, of course, but there is just something special about older dogs and them needing just that little bit something extra. I’ve decided to stop waiting for ‘one day’, and to make my dream finally become a reality.
We have created Pawsome Dog care as a safe, caring, warm home environment where your ‘oldies’ will feel right at home, being treated as part of our family. We want Pawsome to be a home away from home for your precious baby with all the home comforts, genuine care and attention that they’re used to – ensuring they are relaxed, happy, content and well cared for whilst their humans are away.
At Pawsome Dog Care we understand how important and how life dependent it is to keep to your medication schedule. If your older dog needs regular medication (oral and/or injected), hand feeding or encouragement to eat due to old age (or just fussiness!), needs taking outside (or carrying outside) to the toilet during the night, needs help with stairs or getting up and down off furniture, or generally just needs lots and lots of extra TLC, then they will be most welcome here at Pawsome and they will be in fine company. Nothing is too much for our precious oldies, and nor will it be for yours.
Pawsome Dog Care is in-home based care and we want to provide the best care possible. Because of this we will be keeping the numbers small and only taking a couple of dogs to stay at a time.
PS: We also have Henri, a diabetic cat who is on insulin twice a day and rules the roost!
